House Rules for a Peaceful Stay

At the Chalet, we proactively maintain the quality of each guest's experience by setting clear expectations about what is and is not permitted at our home -- before, during, and after your stay.

Below, you will find detailed information that is essential to read prior to booking. This includes our payment policy, post-booking requirements, house rules, "no refunds for any reason" policy, communication policy, spa policy, pet policy, and security deposit policy.

Among our most important rules is that our home is a beautiful sanctuary, and as such, outdoor shoes or dirty feet or paws should never be brought into the home, not even for packing or unpacking your cars or using the pristine Hot Spring spa. This means all guests must have a PLAN prior to arrival as to how they will comply with the "shoes off and clean feet/paws" policy. For example, our family either wears cushy non-slip socks inside the home or changes into a pair of "indoor shoes" or slippers that are NEVER worn outside, not even for a minute.

Wearing outdoor shoes in this house is not any more acceptable here than it is if you visit Japan or many other countries around the world that respect homes by taking outdoor shoes off at the doorstep.

Please ensure you are comfortable with our shoes off policy and all of our other "respect the owner and home" policies prior to booking. We strictly enforce all of these rules, do not make any exceptions, and non-compliance will result in substantial fees.
